Gathering Warm Knitting for Cold Places

Our Projects for 2011

We are gathering and shipping hand-knit hats, socks, mittens, gaitors, sweaters and blankets (no scarves please!) for 2 great causes:

1. We are shipping to Innu children of Northern Labrador. These items will be distributed through the a collective of Innu women in the communities themselves. We are putting together a Christmas shipment, and our deadline is September 30, 2011. They especially need stuff for kids aged 5 to 15, but they would also like baby blankets and items for the younger set.

2. We are shipping to the Cree kids of Moosonee and Kasheshawan through the Moosonee Native Friendship Centre. These items can be wool or wool blend, very warm (-40 degrees temperations), and for any age. The shipping deadlines are January 2011 and September 30, 2011.

We collect in Ottawa and Toronto, through our yarn stores and special events (see below for more information). You can mail or drop off your items there. If you have a specific project to which you would like to contribute, please let us know, by attaching a label to your item. If you provide your name or contact info, we'll post a picture of your item on this site!
